[Purpose] Research on the lives of ssireum figures is a significant academic pursuit aimed at in-depth documentation of the legacy of Korean ssireum. Through an examination of the life of Seung-han Park, a ssireum player, this study sought to assess his contributions to the development of Korean ssireum, resulting in the following conclusions. [Method] The research investigated the footsteps taken by Park Seung-han as a ssireum player through literature analysis and personal interviews. [Result & Conclusion] Hailing from Gyeongju, Seung-han Park, born with innate strength and a passion for ssireum from a young age, demonstrated outstanding ssireum skills from middle school onward. He later became a key figure at Yeongsin High School and the ssireum team at Yeungnam University, contributing to the school's wrestling reputation. Park also played a vital role in the development of Korean ssireum as a researcher and administrator. As the first Korean ssireum player to obtain a doctoral degree in the United States, he promoted the systematic transmission and internationalization of Korean ssireum through activities such as training ssireum player and coaches, publishing ssireum literature, establishing a ssireum research institute, and laying the foundation for the inclusion of ssireum in UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
