[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to examine the background and process of golf courses built in the cultural heritage area of Hyochangwon, Uireung, Yuneung, and Seosamneung and Taegangneung after liberation during the Japanese colonial period. [Method] The data collection of this study was analyzed by collecting and analyzing newspapers, golf magazines, administrative and policy-related materials, photographs, history-related books, cultural assets-related books, thesis, academic journals, and seminar materials. [Result] The golf courses built in Hyochangwon, Uireung, and Yuneung during the Japanese colonial period were built for their entertainment and leisure by senior official of the Japanese Government-General of Korea who were members of the Kyeongsung Golf Club. The golf courses built in Seosam Neung after liberation were builted when the Cultural Heritage Administration sold the area to secure resources to protect cultural assets. The golf course in Taegang Neung is a military golf course built for the purpose of training soldiers, promoting friendship, strengthening bonds, and military diplomacy. [Conclusion] The golf courses during the Japanese colonial period built in Neung, Won, and Myo of the Joseon danasty turned the sacred space of the colony into a place of entertainment. After liberation, golf courses were built in the process of selling the surrounding land to raise funds for protecting cultural properties, and were built to boost the morale of the military.
